Respecting the Paris climate agreement means achieving carbon neutrality in the coming 30-50 years. This requires a complete transformation of our energy system. It is estimated that 50% of the emissions cuts required in 2050 will come from technologies that are still in development today. For example, the decarbonization of the “pillars of our civilization”, the materials on which modern society is based, cannot be achieved without innovation. The size of these sectors, which emit billions of tons of CO2, means accelerating both the development and the deployment of the most promising solutions. This will require significant investments (private and public) and also the development of new economic models and new industries.
