About:

Presentation by Robin Girard (Scientific Manager at Zenon) and Rémi Grimaud (Zenon Analyst).

Plastics, a material witness to the omnipresence of oil in our societies and our daily lives, are now the fastest-growing source of oil consumption. However, the role of petrochemicals remains a “blind spot” in the global debate on energy and transition. Today, technological levers are being put in place, such as the chemical recycling of plastics and new means of production using CO2 or biomass as a carbon source.

During this dialogue, we will offer an overview of the plastic sector and the various levers for decarbonizing. We will discuss the volumes involved at each stage of the plastic life cycle in order to fully understand the challenges of the sector, its evolution, and the challenges that arise. Next, we will explore the various technological solutions, their particularities, advantages, disadvantages.

This overall vision will be complemented by the intervention of an industrialist on the concrete and practical challenges of his sector and the innovative solutions he is considering.

Conference organized in partnership with Mines Paris PSL.
