Cement is an integral part of our modern civilization. Used for the manufacture of concrete, the second most consumed product on the planet after water, cement plays a key role in meeting our societies' needs for housing and infrastructure. The cement industry is present all around the globe and has an important carbon footprint that we have to abate as soon as possible.
In this three-page document we are explaining what is the magnitude of the problem and what are the technologies under developpement or already in use to achieve a net-zero cement industry. There is much to do and investments are not currently sufficient, but some levers like carbon capture and storage could play a major role in this task.
